Hobart Boys Basketball earned a 65-54 non-conference victory over Valparaiso.
The game was played Tuesday at Hobart High School.
Hobart controlled the pace throughout the contest, building steady separation behind efficient shooting and balanced scoring. The Brickies finished 21-of-40 from the field and converted 15-of-19 free throws to maintain their advantage in the second half. Hobart was especially effective attacking the rim and capitalizing on transition opportunities to keep Valparaiso from mounting a sustained run.
Ryan Basham led Hobart with 31 points, shooting 11-of-20 from the floor and 4-of-6 at the free-throw line while adding five rebounds. Paxson Hicko contributed 14 points, connecting on three 3-pointers and going 3-of-4 from the line. Erik Kingery added six points and four made free throws, while Miles White and Klarc Taylor combined for 11 points.
Hobart totaled 21 rebounds and 13 assists, with Hicko dishing out six assists to help fuel the offense. The Brickies also limited mistakes in key stretches, tightened up defensively in the fourth quarter and controlled the tempo to protect their lead late.
The win adds momentum for Hobart as the Brickies continue through the latter portion of their schedule, showing offensive efficiency, defensive discipline and balanced contributions in the home victory.
