Hobart boys basketball earned a 51–47 non-conference road victory over Hammond Morton boys basketball.
The game was played Jan. 30 at Hammond Morton High School in Hammond, Indiana.
Hobart controlled the tempo early and stayed composed in a tightly contested matchup that remained within a few possessions throughout. Hammond Morton answered with defensive pressure to keep the game close, but the Brickies executed efficiently in key moments to maintain a narrow edge. Hobart’s ability to limit second-chance opportunities and close possessions proved critical as the game tightened late.
The Brickies leaned on balanced contributions and defensive discipline down the stretch, making timely stops and converting crucial possessions to secure the four-point win. Hammond Morton continued to push but was held in check during the final minutes.
Senior Ryan Basham paced Hobart with steady scoring and a strong presence on both ends of the floor. Senior Jordan Johnson helped control tempo and create opportunities, while seniors Zabia Gildon, Erik Kingery, Malachi Johnson, and Jeffery Long provided leadership and physical play.
Up next, Hobart will host Griffith on Feb. 18, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
The last time the two teams met, Griffith defeated Hobart 85–61 on Nov. 30 of last season.
