The Hobart Brickies controlled the game from the middle innings on, powering to a 12–2 win over Hammond Central behind a strong mix of hitting and dependable pitching.
The game was played on Wednesday, May 6, at Hobart High School.
Zach Terek anchored the attack with four runs batted in, highlighted by a bases‑clearing double in the third inning and a sharp RBI single in the fourth. His production fueled an eight‑run third that effectively broke the game open. Michael Klaich added two hits and two RBI, while Jayden Standish went a perfect 2‑for‑2 with two runs scored. Caledonio Pimentel chipped in two hits, and Jorge Guerra contributed a run‑scoring single to keep the lineup rolling.
On the mound, Gabe Gutierrez sealed the win with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two and allowing just one hit. Hobart’s bats combined for 13 hits overall, spreading contributions across the order to maintain pressure throughout the contest. The Brickies also showed balance defensively, limiting Hammond Central to five hits and two runs while capitalizing on their own opportunities.
With Terek’s clutch hitting and Gutierrez’s shutdown relief leading the way, Hobart’s decisive mid‑game surge underscored the team’s ability to seize momentum and carry it through to a convincing non‑conference win.
