Hobart aims to build consistency under experienced core

The Hobart boys basketball team is set to commence its 2025–26 season, aiming to build on the progress made under the guidance of second-year head coach Devon Key.

The Brickies are scheduled to host Griffith on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 7 p.m. Central Time (CT), followed by a home game against South Central on Wednesday, December 3.

According to Key, his focus this year is on sustaining effort throughout all four quarters after the team faced challenges in maintaining leads late in games last season. “We competed every night,” Key said. “Now it’s about putting two halves together and keeping that same intensity from start to finish.”

Returning seniors Ryan Basham and Jordan Johnson have been with Key since their freshman year and will serve as the team’s leadership core. Basham said his focus is on accountability and finishing games strong, while Johnson added, “I just try to hold my teammates accountable and make sure we all give one hundred percent every day.”

Key commended his group’s offseason progress in the weight room and noted that the seniors’ commitment has set a tone for younger players. “They bring it every day,” he said. “That intensity trickles down.”

The next game for Hobart is against South Central on December 3 at 7 p.m. CT.
