Hobart’s 2026 baseball season closed with a 13–14 record, but the Brickies consistently proved they could compete with strong programs across northwest Indiana.
The year opened with momentum as Hobart started 2–0, earning early wins over Merrillville and Griffith. As the season progressed, the Brickies added key victories over Valparaiso, South Central, Hammond Central, Wheeler and Portage, building a résumé that showed their ability to rise to the level of quality opponents.
Their 7–5 sectional win over Portage stood out as one of the season’s defining moments, fueled by a late offensive surge that kept their postseason alive.
Hobart also navigated a demanding Northwest Crossroads Conference slate, where close games and competitive matchups tested the team throughout the spring. Even in losses, the Brickies remained within reach, including their final game of the season—a 3–1 sectional battle against Valparaiso on June 1. Hobart struck first in the third inning when John Jillson singled and later scored on a run‑producing swing by Caledonio Pimentel. Strong pitching from Zach Terek and Gabe Gutierrez kept the Brickies in contention, and the defense played error‑free baseball, but Valparaiso’s two‑run sixth inning proved decisive.
The Brickies closed the year by honoring their standouts: MVP Zach Terek, Most Improved Jayson Scales, Offensive Player Alexander Mays, Defensive Player Celedonio Pimentel, Pitcher of the Year Connor Kenjic, 10th Man Jayden Standish, and Mental Attitude Award winner Gabe Gutierrez.
