The Brickies opened the 2025 football season with a 20–3 victory over Chesterton at home Friday, earning payback after falling in last year’s matchup. The win gave Hobart a confident start and highlighted balance on both sides of the ball.
Quarterback Aleks Tatum provided a versatile performance, rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown on nine carries while also passing for 165 yards and another score. Wide receiver Nathan Sobczynski was his favorite target, hauling in 80 yards to keep drives moving.
Defensively, Hobart set the tone early and never let Chesterton establish momentum. The Brickies limited the Trojans to just two yards per carry, forcing long third downs and disrupting rhythm at the line of scrimmage. Linebacker Terry Earvin anchored the effort with 10 tackles, leading a group that controlled field position throughout the night.
With the opener behind them, the Brickies will look to build on the momentum Friday when they host Portage. Fans expect another strong showing as Hobart continues its push to establish consistency in the early season.
