Hobart fell 10–7 to South Bend St. Joseph on Friday in a defensive playoff battle that came down to second-half execution and field position.
The game took place on November 14 at South Bend St. Joseph High School, where both teams traded early stops before the Huskies grabbed a 3–0 lead in the opening quarter.
According to reports from the game, Hobart’s offense found rhythm in the second quarter, responding with a touchdown to take a 7–3 lead into halftime. South Bend St. Joseph answered with a third-quarter scoring drive to go ahead 10–7, and neither team found the end zone in the fourth as the Brickies came up short on late possessions. Hobart’s season-long offensive leaders included senior running back Max Pickett, who averaged 126.8 rushing yards per game, along with junior quarterback Aleks Tatum at 69.8 yards per contest. In the receiving game, juniors Bryce Tolliver, Stephen Miller, and Nathan Sobczynski led the way with averages of 55.9, 37.9, and 24.8 receiving yards per game.
With this result, Hobart’s season has concluded with the playoff loss.
