Hobart falls to Saint Joseph in nonconference matchup

0Comments

The Hobart girls basketball team dropped a 65–35 decision to South Bend Saint Joseph in a nonconference contest.

The game was played Jan. 17 at Hobart High School, where the Brickies hosted the Huskies and worked to keep pace through four quarters against a fast, physical opponent.

Hobart continued to compete on both ends of the floor, rotating multiple players and looking to establish rhythm offensively while facing consistent defensive pressure. Senior guard Zaria Gildon provided leadership in the backcourt, while fellow seniors Samantha Stankich and Aalliah Otero contributed on the wing and in transition. The Brickies also leaned on seniors Riley Weber and Riley Weber in the post and on the glass, battling for rebounds and second-chance opportunities. The senior group helped anchor the lineup and set the tone with effort and communication throughout the game.

Despite the final margin, Hobart continued to attack the paint, move the ball and gain valuable experience against a strong nonconference opponent, with underclassmen seeing extended minutes alongside the senior core.

Up next, Hobart will host Hammond Central on Jan. 30 in a nonconference matchup scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

The Brickies last faced Hammond Central on Jan. 31, when they fell 79–44 on the road.
