The Hobart girls volleyball team opened its 2025 campaign on the road Monday with a 3‑0 loss to the Valparaiso Vikings, but the Brickies’ effort and determination were evident throughout the match. While the scores of 25‑15, 25‑12, 25‑9 favored the Vikings, Hobart showcased flashes of the talent and teamwork that could define their season.
Alissa Hope and Cadence Costello led the way offensively, each recording four kills, while setter Kalli Butcher distributed seven assists to keep the Brickies competitive. The young team demonstrated poise under pressure and a willingness to battle each point, signaling growth and potential despite the outcome.
Hobart returned quickly to the court, facing Portage on Aug. 19 and putting together a 3‑1 effort that highlighted the team’s resilience and ability to adjust. The Brickies’ coaching staff emphasized fundamentals and communication, skills that will serve them well in the coming weeks.
Although early losses extend a streak from last season, Hobart’s focus remains on progress, execution, and building confidence. With a combination of returning talent and emerging leaders, the Brickies are poised to turn lessons learned into strong performances and victories as the season unfolds.
