Hobart High School’s girls wrestling team emerged victorious at the NCC Girls Holiday Throwdown and Tiaras, securing the team title in a competitive conference event. The tournament took place on December 20 at Highland High School, featuring eight teams in a regular-season individual competition.
According to the event results, Hobart amassed 298.5 points to clinch the championship, outperforming Munster and Highland. The Brickies’ success was driven by several ranked and notable wrestlers throughout their lineup. Corabella Wesley participated as the top-ranked wrestler in the 125-pound category. Other key contributors included Alexis Rodriguez (100 pounds), Joanna Cantu (105 pounds), Julia Helminski (135 pounds), Addy Hendricks (140 pounds), Gaby Robles (155 pounds), and Lena Raygoza (235 pounds). Additional support from Madison Terry, Ashley DeBusk, Maddie Lams, Bailey Varella, Miley Fifer, and Layla Gutierrez further distinguished Hobart from its competitors.
Munster secured second place with 240 points, while Highland finished third. Hobart’s depth and consistent performance were instrumental in their triumph.
Looking ahead, Hobart is set to compete in the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Regional on January 9 at Goshen.
