Hobart Boys Basketball is preparing for its third game of the season, aiming to make progress with the support of senior leadership and improved late-game consistency.
The upcoming matchup is scheduled for December 9 at Calumet New Tech, where the Brickies will compete in a varsity road contest starting at 7 p.m.
According to senior guard Ryan Basham, the team’s focus this year is on finishing stronger in the second half. Basham said that Hobart often performed well early in games last season but struggled to maintain its momentum after halftime. He emphasized that converting those lapses into sustained four-quarter performances is the program’s primary objective as the roster now possesses full varsity experience. Senior Jordan Johnson also highlighted that accountability, practice intensity, and daily improvement are central to the group’s identity. This aligns with head coach Devon Key’s emphasis on conditioning, continuity, and maintaining pace late in games. With several seniors stepping into larger roles, Hobart sees this early stretch as an opportunity to establish the consistency needed throughout conference play.
Following their game against Calumet New Tech on December 9, Hobart will return home later in the week. The Brickies last faced Calumet New Tech on December 10, 2024, where they narrowly lost 51–47 in a closely contested matchup.
