Hobart used a series of timely scoring bursts to outlast Wheeler 12–10 on May 15 at Wheeler High School, building a late cushion before holding off a final‑inning push.
The Brickies opened with two runs in the first and later tied the game 3–3 in the fourth before taking control in the fifth. Hobart scored five runs in the fifth inning on four hits, part of a stretch in which the Brickies plated nine runs across the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.
Senior Zach Terek played a central role on both sides of the ball, finishing 1‑for‑3 with three RBIs and a double while also earning the win on the mound. Terek worked six innings, allowing six runs (five earned) with four strikeouts.
Hobart’s lineup produced nine hits, led by Ryder Yates, Connor Kenjic, and Caledonio Pimentel, who each recorded two hits. Kenjic scored three times, while Yates and Pimentel each added an RBI. The Brickies also applied pressure on the bases, swiping four total bases — one each from Yates, Gutierrez, Murchek, and Pimentel.
Wheeler rallied late with three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh, but Hobart’s earlier surge held up as the Brickies secured the road win.
