Hobart girls’ volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory over Griffith in a non-conference match, relying on balanced hitting and steady defense. The game took place on Monday, September 29, at Griffith High School.
The Brickies dominated the first two sets with scores of 25-12 and 25-15, leveraging strong serving and net play to gain momentum. Griffith mounted a challenge in the third set, extending rallies and matching Hobart point-for-point before Hobart clinched the set 26-24 to complete the sweep.
Senior Riley Weber and junior Alissa Hope spearheaded Hobart’s attack with seven and eight kills respectively. Senior Kalli Butcher orchestrated the offense with 13 assists, while junior Marin Ray contributed four assists. On defense, senior Maddie Lams led the back row with 16 digs, and junior Bella Cawthon supported at the net with two kills.
Griffith demonstrated resilience throughout the match. Senior Saniya Harper led their efforts with seven kills, while senior Kaelin Bergdahl added four. Freshman J. Rutherford also contributed four kills, and senior libero Lexi Rippe played a crucial role in maintaining competitiveness during extended rallies.
