The Hobart High School boys varsity basketball team showcased its most explosive performance of the season on Tuesday night, cruising to an 87–43 road victory over Whiting High School.
The matchup saw Hobart secure an 87–43 victory on the road. The result marks one of the team’s most decisive wins of the season and sets the stage for their upcoming playoff appearance.
From the opening tip-off, Hobart established a physical and fast-paced tempo that Whiting struggled to contain. The Brickies’ defense stifled the Oilers early, allowing Hobart to build a commanding 41–18 lead by halftime. Leading the way was senior Jordan Johnson, who delivered a standout performance with 24 points, followed by junior Paxson Hicko, who added a sharp 14 points to the tally. The Brickies’ defense was equally impressive, holding Whiting to just 43 points.
Looking ahead, Hobart will play the Valparaiso Vikings in a neutral playoff game on March 6 at Chesterton as part of the IHSAA Class 4A Boys Basketball State Tournament – S2. The Brickies enter this contest with an overall record of 13-9.
The teams last met on February 10 when Hobart won at home against Valparaiso by a score of 65–54.
