Hobart senior Hayden Mancilla delivered one of the strongest seasons of his career at 165 pounds, finishing as an IHSAA State Qualifier while helping lead the Brickies through a successful postseason run.
The IHSAA Boys Wrestling State Series concluded with competition at East Chicago Central during semi-state action before advancing to the State Finals in Indianapolis, where Mancilla represented Hobart against Indiana’s top wrestlers.
Mancilla finished the 2025-26 season with an impressive 35-2 record, highlighted by sectional and regional championships and a third-place finish at semi-state to earn his state berth. Throughout the year, the senior consistently defeated ranked opponents, including victories over Greyson Strickland of Chesterton and Charles Barnes of Michigan City during postseason competition. His run included multiple pins, technical falls and major decisions, showcasing both offensive versatility and match control against elite competition.
At semi-state, Mancilla secured key wins to reach the podium, including an 8-7 decision over Strickland before rebounding from a semifinal loss with a strong 9-3 victory to lock up third place and advance.
A third-place finish at the prestigious Al Smith Invitational earlier in the season further highlighted his consistency against one of the state’s deepest tournament fields.
Mancilla’s senior campaign capped a steady rise through the Hobart program, finishing as one of the Brickies’ top postseason performers and leaving a lasting impact on the mat.
