The Hobart Brickies dropped a 57–54 decision to the DeMotte Christian Knights in a varsity basketball non-conference matchup.
According to reports, Hobart outperformed DeMotte Christian in rebounding and free-throw shooting but struggled with their overall shooting accuracy. The Brickies managed a 33–26 advantage in rebounds and secured five steals compared to DeMotte Christian’s one. However, they only converted 36 percent of their field goals and 22 percent of their three-point attempts. Despite achieving a 71 percent success rate from the free-throw line, Hobart’s offense faltered during crucial moments, resulting in the end of their recent winning streak.
Following this loss, Hobart (9–6) is set to return to conference play with an upcoming away game against Kankakee Valley (4–11) on February 5. This match serves as a rematch from nearly a year ago when the Brickies were defeated by the Kougars at home with a score of 64–58. Hobart aims to reverse that outcome and continue building momentum on the road as both teams strive for better standings within the conference.
