Smith Paces Hobart in Season-Ending Playoff Loss

0Comments

The Hobart girls basketball team saw its season come to a close with a 63-15 loss in postseason play, as the Brickies battled through a difficult playoff matchup and continued to compete until the final horn.

The game was played Feb. 6 in a neutral-site playoff contest.

Hobart struggled to find offensive rhythm early, scoring three points in the opening quarter and facing a significant deficit by halftime. Despite the score, the Brickies continued to push the tempo and look for scoring opportunities throughout the second half while rotating players and maintaining defensive effort.

Junior Kurah Krucina led Hobart with five points, attacking the lane and creating scoring chances while drawing contact. Senior Riley Weber added four points and worked inside on the glass, contributing rebounds and physical play in the paint. Junior Chesnie Unland chipped in two points and provided energy on both ends of the floor, while senior Zaria Gildon and senior Aalliah Otero anchored the lineup defensively and helped stabilize possessions.

Hobart continued to move the ball and compete defensively in the second half, gaining valuable postseason experience as several underclassmen saw extended minutes. The Brickies focused on execution, effort, and development despite the challenging circumstances.

The loss marked the final game of the season for Hobart, closing a year defined by perseverance, growth, and opportunities for younger players to gain experience heading into the offseason.
