Hobart Girls Basketball has commenced the season with a 5–2 record, largely due to the consistent two-way performance of junior Riley Weber.
The Brickies’ initial seven games were held throughout November and early December at various Region gyms and on their home court in Hobart, Indiana.
According to the team’s records, Weber has been instrumental in their early success.
She scored 16 points in a 49–27 victory over Boone Grove and followed up with 15 points on 60 percent shooting in a 61–25 win against Lake Station Edison. Her versatility was further demonstrated with 11 rebounds in a narrow 41–39 win against Griffith, and she added 11 points in a close 47–45 win over River Forest to conclude November positively.
Senior Zaria Gildon also contributed significantly by adding five points with perfect perimeter shooting during the November 25 win over Munster, providing Hobart with an additional scoring option from the perimeter.
The Brickies’ two losses were against formidable opponents, La Porte and Portage, including a 58–37 defeat on the road to Portage on December 2. Despite these setbacks, Hobart is showing positive trends defensively and in rebounding.
Hobart is set to host Illiana Christian on December 10 at 7 p.m.
